These truly are the best recipes for guacamole and hummus! They're quick to prepare, incredibly creamy, and absolutely delicious. Based on classic recipes you already love, these are made with just a few wholesome ingredients and can be whipped up in under 5 minutes using a high-powered blender!

I enjoy pairing the hummus with cucumber slices for a speedy, healthy snack, adding a dollop to my veggie bowls, and more. In short, they're indispensable in my fridge and remarkably versatile!

Is Hummus Good for You? Absolutely! Chickpeas aren't only delicious; they're nutritional powerhouses for gut health. Rich in fiber, they help maintain regular digestive flow and combat constipation. Here’s the exciting part: they're loaded with insoluble fiber that helps lower "bad" cholesterol and nourishes the "good" bacteria in your gut. It’s a dual benefit for your health!

Ingredients for Perfect Hummus:

chickpeas
  • 1 can chickpeas, drained (reserve the liquid)

  • 1/3 cup chickpea liquid (add more if needed)

  • 50 g tahini

  • Juice of 1 lemon

  • 1 garlic clove

  • 1 teaspoon cumin

  • 1/3 teaspoon Himalayan salt

For Garnish:

  • 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

  • A pinch of paprika

  • A pinch of freshly chopped parsley

How to Make Super Easy Hummus:

Drain the chickpeas over a bowl using a colander, saving all the chickpea liquid (aquafaba).

2 bowls one with chickpeas drained and other with the liquid.
  1. Add chickpeas, reserved liquid, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, and salt to a blender.

  2. Blend until smooth and creamy.

  3. If it's too thick, add a little more chickpea liquid or water until you reach your desired consistency.

  1. Serve it up by creating a swoosh with a spoon in the hummus to hold the olive oil, then sprinkle with paprika and add parsley. Enjoy your homemade hummus!

Storing Tips: Hummus stores well in the fridge, making it a fantastic option for meal prep.

  • To store: Store the hummus in an airtight container and refrigerate for 3-4 days.

  • To freeze: Freeze any leftovers in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. I always keep some in my freezer, ready to thaw and enjoy!

Guacamole Ingredients:

Select the freshest ingredients for the best guacamole. Opt for ripe but firm avocados.

Storing Leftovers (Keeping It Green): Guacamole can oxidize and turn brown quickly, but lime juice helps slow this process. To keep guacamole green:

  1. Transfer the guacamole to a storage container and smooth the top with a spoon.

  2. Pour about 1/2 inch of cold water over the guacamole and seal with a lid.

  3. When ready to eat, just drain the water, stir, and enjoy. This method keeps it fresh for up to three days!

I've tested this method extensively, and it works beautifully, keeping your guacamole fresh and tasty.
